Richard L. (Sammy) Hawkins, 91, of Laurel, IN formerly of Wilkinson passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Millers Merry Manor in Rushville.

He was born June 5, 1921 in Anderson, IN the son of the late Harry Hawkins and Addie (Hanson) Hawkins.

Richard retired from Delco Remy as an electrician with 47 years of service and loved farming. He was a member of the By His Grace Ministry Maple Grove Church, and the American Legion.

Survivors include three sons; James (Marita) Hawkins of Laurel, Jeff (Chris) Hawkins of Fayetteville AR. Jack (Debbie) Hawkins of St. Paul, ten grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, brother; Joe Hawkins of Tucson AZ.; sister; Barbara McPhearson of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Ruth (Sparks) Hawkins, brothers; George and John Hawkins, sisters; Mae Gilley and Dorothy Turner.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson, with Pastor Susan Jones officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 prior to the service. Burial with military service will follow at K Of P cemetery in Frankton, IN.
